Beirut - Scenic World

I’ve loved Beirut for years, and have played this song numerous times, but it came on shuffle tonight and it’s as if I’ve never heard it before. This version (from the Lon Gisland EP) is so much more poignant than the Gulag Orkestar one, a little more sincere?

When I feel alive
I try to imagine a careless life
A scenic world where the sunsets are all
Breathtaking

For whatever reason, and I can’t really explain it, I want to get up and be productive and watch the sunrise and the sunset and live.

On a side note, this blog - which initially started out as a 365 - is in its second year, and my work load at university is steadily increasing. From day one in September I haven’t actually had a night off, let alone a holiday. We were due our very first free week this week only for a project to be extended, so I doubt I’ll be writing regularly here. Sadly. But perhaps expect more regular 8tracks mixes.
