Jason Derulo - Fight For You

It’s difficult to know why I like someone who insists on singing his own name before starting a song (except for this one! Maybe he’s grown out of it?), and whose first album seems to exclusively revolve around cheating on his girlfriend and having sex with random women he picks up from bars, but Jason Derulo is just so goddamn catchy. When this popped up on the radio I found it hilarious that he was using a Toto sample, and then sad that nobody else in my class knew who the hell Toto were, let alone heard the original Africa. It’s no Riding Solo, mainly because there are so many comedy moves you can bust to that classic (“putting on my shades to cover up my eyes” and “my head’s in the sky” work particularly well) when you’re paggered with your pals, but I love Toto, and who doesn’t? Except all those other people of my generation who live sad lives with no knowledge of Toto, whom I pity.
