The Big Idea
by Black Books
Black Books - The Big Idea
Initially, strangely reminiscent of ‘Wicked Games’, but in reality it’s the slow build that it relates to. The creeping guitar keeps the build crawling, and the synth begins so gradually it’s barely audible.
You can have anything that you want
…is the repeated line, but it comes out as a plea rather than reassurance. Black Books conjure up a decievingly easy, chilled mood, but the song lingers. On reflection it seems like exhaustion.
Take it from me, no one said it was easy
‘The Big Idea’ is the kind of song you hear once and can’t quite understand why everyone else isn’t listening to it too. I hope more people check out the band and support them, because based on their potential they deserve it.
For the first time in our lives, you were happy
